Our member of the Month is busy mum Danae. She gets up super early before the kids start running a muck and heads to the gym for our circuit class. If you’re looking for some fitness inspiration, here it is! Danae braves the cold mornings after late nights and finds the energy to come in and give the workout all she’s got. And so we asked her how on earth she finds the energy to do it!

Main Event: How long have you been training at Main Event Fitness?

Danae: I’ve been coming to Main Event for around about a year and a half now.

Main Event: You primarily take the 6am circuit class, what prompted you to start?

Danae: I started doing personal training sessions and then moved to the mumz n bubz classes! But when that class was cut out I didn’t want to stop coming and the 6am classes were what I was interested in and that way I could come without chasing after my kids!

Main Event: You are a mum of young children and do so well to get up and train before you start your busy day – how do you find the motivation to do so?

Danae: Honestly I don’t know haha! I just know that I don’t want to revert back to the way I was before I started coming, which is super unfit and very overweight! I guess knowing how good I feel in myself after the workout is a huge incentive!

Main Event: What do you enjoy about the circuit classes?

Danae: Definitely the people! That group is amazing and huge motivators! It’s high intensity too which I like, I don’t feel like I’ve done much unless I sweat a tonne!

Main Event: Have you tried any other classes offered?

Danae: I’ve done personal training and mumz n bubz classes! I love boxing! It’s a huge release for me and I find it really therapeutic!

Main Event: This week we merged with the ETC, offering longer opening hours and plenty more classes! Which of the classes are you keen to try?

Danae: I want to keep to the Monday, Wednesday, Friday 6am classes and maybe eventually try out the yoga class. Fairly excited about the sauna too!!

Main Event: What were you most nervous about when you began training with Main Event Fitness?

Danae: That I would be the fattest most unfit person to walk through the door haha! That people would look at me and think what is she doing at a gym like this! Basically just the judgement! It was a little less daunting for me knowing I was going to this gym for the first time with people I already knew because it was their first visit too. I felt a lot more comfortable once I had met Johnny and the team, I felt reassured in the choice I made to start classes.

Main Event: What advice would you give to other mums thinking about taking classes?

Danae: Don’t over think it! Just bite the bullet and try one class. I think you will get the vibe of whether it’s for you or not after the first session. I was never a gym person! Couldn’t stand them but this isn’t your typical gym, there is so much variety and funnily enough it becomes very addictive. At the end of the day what’s one hour out of your whole day. Never hurts to try!
