Gym Refit Update | Elite Training Gym Geelong
As you will have noticed, our gym is looking different, which we know has got some of our members a little uncertain about the direction we are moving. So we wanted to update everyone, so that we’re all on the same page about what’s next for the ETC! The refit that occurred last weekend is only part one of what we hope will be a big makeover for ETC, creating a next level training facility, that we know you’ll all love! We understand change can be scary, so we thought we would take a moment to answer a few of the big questions which have been floating around this week.
Is the refit finished?
Short answer, no we aren’t done yet. We have more changes coming before we reach our final product.
What else is happening?
We’ve got a heap of plans, but here is a brief overview, if you are curious or want to know more just ask Tay or Johnny and they can walk you through it.
- Creating an open training space upstairs which will be perfect for core training, TRX, circuit work and foam rolling.
- Relocating the current change rooms to upstairs: this will open the back corner of the gym which we understand is quite crowded at the moment.
- Rehanging the climbing ropes and creating a space for wall balls.
- More mat space in the boxing room.
- A new layout and design for the reception area: this will include a space for members to heat up their meals, a small fridge and a space for kids to sit and draw.
How long will it take?
We are trying as best we can to keep the gym open and functional, which means the process is probably going to be a little slower. We are aiming to have the gym finished by the end of September, but are asking all our members and staff for their patience.
Where can I do my circuits?
With everyone, including staff, adjusting to the new layout and the changes, it can seem like there is not a lot of free space in the gym. There is space in the new lifting area for cross fit style workouts and we will have one of those walls freed up for wall balls. We are also setting up an area upstairs with kettlebells, pump weights, aerobic steps and TRX’s that can be used for circuits as well.
Can kids still come into the gym when I train?
Yes of course, we will have an area in reception where they can sit. Unfortunately, due to the number of weights machines and weight plates, they won’t be able to access the main gym anymore unless with a staff member. Jaime is continuing to run her mums and bubs group in the boxing room as well which means this room is going to be booked from 9:30-10:30 Monday to Friday.
Are we getting any more equipment?
Yes, we do have a couple more pieces coming in next month. We are also exploring options for updating the sauna!
